Is there something like a folder that has all my images and files?

You can see all your uploaded images when you add "/photos" to your site url, e.g mysite.44gallonsweb.com/photos and all your files when you add "/files", e.g mysite.44gallonsweb.com/files.

NB! Please note that all files uploaded with 44GallonsWeb are publicly accessible to everyone.

How can I align an image so that text wraps around it?

After dragging an image into a text area the text isn’t wrapped around it by default. You can wrap the text around the image by aligning the image left or right. Click on the image and choose the “Align” tool from text editor toolbox. Select the image position (left or right).
Wrap text around image
Aligning an image to the centre is different because the HTML standard doesn’t support it. To align an image into the centre of the area you have to also select some text before and after image before you apply the align to centre tool.

How do I resize my images?

After dragging an image into a text area you are able to manipulate it (resize, crop, rotate, restore original). Clicking on an image opens an additional image toolbox next to the text toolbox. Click on “Resize image” tool to start resizing the selected image. You can change the size of it by dragging from the corners. You can also click the "Autofit" button to fit your image to current text area. Press "Apply" to save the new size or "Cancel" to cancel resizing.
Resize image
NB! This tool works with the original image, changing its physical size and dimension. This means that if the same file is featured somewhere else in your site, it will also change.

If you don’t want to change the physical size of the file but only its display size (the download size of the file remains the same) then you can set the size by clicking on "Image properties" tool. Type the new size of the image into this toolbox and press "Apply" to apply changes.
Resize image - properties menu

How do I crop images?

After you’ve added an image into a text area you are able to manipulate with it (resize, crop, rotate, restore original). Clicking on the image opens an additional image toolbox. Click on “Crop image” tool to start cropping. It allows you select an area of the image that you want to crop out by dragging it with the handlers that you can see on corners. Press “Apply” to apply the cropped area or “Cancel” to cancel.
Crop the image
NB! This tool works with the original image and changes the physical size and dimension of the file to make it more optimal to download for your visitors. This means that if the same file is featured somewhere else in your site, it will also change.

After resizing or cropping images the size of the same image in other page also changes

The image tool (resize, crop and rotate) works with original image and changes the physical size and dimension of the file to make it optimal to download for your visitors. If the same file is featured somewhere else on your site (in some other text area, in gallery etc) then it will be affected as well. If you want to use the same image with different size in different places on your site, then you have to upload more than one copy of the image into your site.

If you have accidentally resized or cropped your image then you can always restore the original image when you click on it in text area and select "Restore image from original" tool from image toolbox.
Restore original image

I uploaded some images to my site which look fine in Firefox, but disappear in IE (a red cross appears).

The problem is that Internet Explorer supports only the RGB color model and the images that IE doesn’t show are probably in CMYK. The solution is to convert the images that IE doesn’t show into RGB. You can do that in Photoshop, or some other image editing software. Choose "Image" → "Mode" → "RGB Color". Don’t forget to save the image and upload it again to your 44GallonsWeb account.

What are good image formats for my site?

It is safe to use the image formats JPG, PNG and GIF because they are supported by all the main browsers. Avoid using formats like BMP and TIFF because the same images with the same quality in these formats are mostly much bigger than JPG, PNG and GIF files.

How can I add images to my gallery?

After you have created a gallery area (see how you can do that), click on the area (where you can see the text "This gallery is empty") and 44GallonsWeb will open your "Files" section. Now you can drag and drop images to your gallery.
Add image to gallery

How can I delete images from my gallery?

Hover your mouse over the picture you want to delete and you’ll see that a trash can icon will appear. Click on the icon and confirm your decision.
Delete image from gallery

Can I add the same gallery set into different pages?

You can’t copy and paste the existing gallery to another place but you can use the file filtering option to make it easier to build another gallery with the same content. Open the "Files" bar at the bottom of the page and you can see a drop-down filter under the "Add" button. Select the name of your existing gallery as a filter and drag all images into your new gallery.

I have a lot of files in my Files section. Is there a way to search them?

We don’t have a sorting and searching functionality yet, but there is an option to filter your files by upload date and by media collections (every gallery is a different media collection). Open the "Files" bar at the bottom of the page and you can see a filter in drop-down menu under the "Add" button. Select the filter you want.

I added content to my site and now it appears on every page!

This means that you’ve added content to one of the two cross-site elements — site name or site footer. 44GallonsWeb shows your site name and footer on every page so that you won’t have to write your company’s name and contact details again and again. To stop your content from appearing on every page just copy it into a regular text area. Find out how to create a new text area here.

How can I add external widgets that are using JavaScript (Google AdSense, Twitter etc) to my site?

The safest way is to customize your design and add the code of the widget directly into your design layouts. This prevents problems with code generated by the widget script getting saved into a visible text area. Some widgets that are using JavaScript don’t cause this problem and can be added into a text area via "Insert a video/Embedded code" icon in the text editor toolbox. We are hoping to make it work for all widgets soon.
